This is America. It’s not a new America. It’s the same old America we’ve grown to love.

The backstory is pretty simple: A pool party in McKinney, Texas got loud and “out of control” and the police were summoned.  You can watch the 7 minute video of a portion of the encounter below.  What’s most disturbing about the video is that the officer knew that he was being recorded and didn’t seem to care.  Cameras might help prosecute police officers who overstep their boundaries, but it’s pretty obvious they’re not doing an excellent job at stemming the tide of police brutality.

The officer in question has been placed on paid leave, as seems to be standard operating procedure in police departments around the country.  At what point do you not get paid leave? McKinney police gave the typical b.s. statement that the video “raised concerns.”  The biggest concern for me is that there are several officers right there that do nothing to talk their co-worker down.  That’s teamwork.

Here’s the video. Keep in mind, these are all children and it may be difficult for some to watch.
