California is in a severe drought. And it’s only getting worse. Everyone knows that. But did you know that it takes 106 gallons of water to produce 1 ounce of beef? As you’d expect most fruits and vegetables are lower water consuming crops, with the exceptions being chickpeas, lentils, and peas which need 76, 71 and 45 gallons of water, respectively. That makes those three legumes higher consumers than chicken. Bottom line? Eat chicken, save the earth.
