A new witness has come forward in the 10-year-old Natalee Holloway case. His name is Jurrien de Jong and his words have prompted Natalee’s father, Dave Holloway, to return to Aruba to investigate the details surrounding his daughter’s disappearance in May 2005.
Dave, has gone back to Aruba in search of answers in the disappearance of his daughter, prompted by the words of a man by the name of Jurrien de Jong who says he was the last person to see her alive. He also knows where he body is, or so he says.
Jurrien de Jong told Inside Edition, “I saw Natalee Holloway on the last night she was alive. I was the eyewitness.”
Dave Holloway, accompanied by a private investigator and a cadaver dog, is intent on checking out the validity of de Jong’s claims. It has been ten years since his daughter vanished after a night of dancing on the beach on Aruba. The last person thought to see her alive, Joran van der Sloot, who is currently in a Peruvian prison for the murder of a another college student, Stephany Flores Ramirez. Stephany was murdered on the fifth anniversary of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance. Over the years, van der Sloot has maintained he was not involved in her death, although he did allegedly extort money from the family prior to going to Peru, saying he knew where her body was located. The teen’s body was not found in the location he provided and van der Sloot, once done serving his 28 year sentence in Peru, will face extradition to the United States to face charges in that matter.
Jurrien de Jong places Joran van der Sloot at the scene on the night the Alabama teenager went missing. “I saw that Joran was chasing Natalee into a small building under construction,” he told Inside Edition. “In about five minutes he came out with Natalee in his arms, and slammed the body of Natalee on the floor, and then he made an opening in a crawl space…I knew she was dead.”
Many question why this witness failed to alert Aruban authorities back in 2005. According to de Jong, at the time he was engaged in illegal activities himself and could not go to Aruban officials with his story. However, he claims has come forward now because he saw a television interview where Joran van der Sloot admitted to an undercover investigator that he had taken Natalee Holloway’s body out in a boat and dumped her remains into the ocean.
Jurrien de Jong says that van der Sloot lied. He was there.
Reports are that the current prosecutor in Aruba, Eric Olthof, said he will take a look at the claims made by De Jong. He said he expects his investigation could take as long as two months.
There has, from the beginning of this tragic story, been a sort of acceptance that Natalee would never been seen alive again. If nothing else, her family deserves some closure on the matter of her disappearance. Hopefully, Dave Holloway’s investigation will provide some answers.
