If you’re an adult over the age of 23 you should have a few recipes in your bag that you can pull out and impress your friends and/or potential lover. Pasta carbonara is one of the easiest recipes to make. For those who don’t know it’s basically bacon, egg, and cheese pasta. And it’s damned delicious.
The twist on this one, for those of you who live where marijuana is legal, is it’s made with weed. If you don’t want to ingest weed you can leave it out of the recipe all together and it’s still a great dish. Just not as awesome.
- 1/2-1 pound of bacon (the amount of bacon you use is up to you)
- 4 eggs at room temperature
- 1/4 cream, milk, or half and half (heavy cream works best, but any milk above 2% will do)
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1lb linguine, fettuccine, or spaghetti pasta
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion
- 1/4 -3/4 cup weed butter
- 1/4 cup chopped basil
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- 2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
First cook the bacon until it’s crispy. Crumble the back up and set aside. You might want to save a few teaspoons of the bacon grease for later, as it adds great flavor to the dish. If you’re trying to be healthy you can cut back on the amount of bacon. Although, if you’re trying to be healthy, this really isn’t the dish to do that with.
Next, in a medium bowl beat the eggs and cream until it’s blended. Stir in 3/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese and set the entire mixture aside.
Now you need to cook your pasta. Cook the pasta in generously salted water. Once it’s cooked drain it, but save a cup of cooked pasta water for later.
Saute your garlic in the reserved bacon grease, also add your parsley and red pepper flakes. After about 2 minutes add the cooked pasta to the pan. Once the pasta is heated again toss with your weed butter. Make sure you thoroughly coat the pasta.
Once you have the weed butter incorporated into your pasta, add the bacon and egg and cheese mix and toss gently. Add the remaining cheese, parsley and basil.
Serve hot. Get high.
